Army wife…

The past 5 days being able to share time with my man have been the best blessing I could have ever asked for.

Being an Army wife is not an easy task. Now I haven’t dealt with deployment but I have dealt with my man being gone for a lot of training.

The past 4 going on 5 months have been the hardest yet. Living on a mountain where you can hear a pin drop makes it a very lonely place to be. My family is about an hour and half away. My friends are about a half hour from me. But the days and nights are long, quiet and keep the mind racing.

I do things to keep me busy but it’s hard to stay focused when you’re thinking of your best friend and soul mate. I keep the TV on a lot for noise and distraction.

I am very fortunate for the career I have because it gives me life. What do I mean by that? Well, helping others create healthy and happy lifestyles is such a joy to watch.

Along with being my own boss, making my own schedule so I am able to visit him on his breaks. It helps to have the flexibility to be a good dog mama too!

Speaking of being a dog mama, thank the Lord for putting that fur ball in my life. He has been the best snuggle buddy with the lonely nights. The best playmate during the day to keep me going. I love that little guy so much!

Being an Army wife has it’s ups and downs but I’m mighty proud of him!

Tackling traveling

If you know me well enough, then you know how much I hate traveling by airplane. It’s not so much the flight itself. Well, not anymore! I used to have to take something to knock me out or have a drink to loosen me up.

Now, it’s getting through the airport and to my gate that gives me all the anxiety unless it’s Burbank Airport then I’m solid. Any other airport makes me so nervous because I don’t know the layout and they are intimidating to me.

I landed in Atlanta which everyone told me, it’s big and overwhelming. It is definitely HUGE but I navigated my way through and was able to find the baggage claim. What’s going to intimidating is when I have to depart from here next week!

How do you handle travel? Do you travel alone? Any tips you may have for me?

Please do share🙌🏻

It’s time to get real…

Life is a funny thing. Sometimes you feel on top of the world and other times you feel like you are stuck in a ditch. There are the highs and the lows. The ebbs and the flows. I have chatted with a lot of people who have been feeling stuck in the lows, including myself. As a wife of a husband who had long hours, traveling and in the Army National Guard there are times where the lows feel like the lowest and you don’t know how to pull yourself out.

The past couple of months have been not ideal. I’ve gotten sick, lacked motivation for my own workouts (only having true energy for my clients and classes), emotional eating, the Hubs schedule has been all over the place and I’ve been hitting the snooze button more than I would like to admit. But I am in the #last90dayschallenge with Rachel Hollis and I am NOT going to let it go to waste and give up!

With that being said, I am going to be doing something new come November!!!!!! Not only am I going to be committing to 100 workouts in a row but I am committing to digging in deep into my nutrition. I am going to start learning how to cook more! YUP, you heard me right! With my emotional eating I have gone to some bad habits like having ice cream and cookies. I am strong for others, motivating for others but if I want to see change in myself I have to make a change. If I want to pull myself outta the ditch I have to be willing to do things I have not done before. I have to take chances and push past fears that have been holding me back. I stay transparent with you because I would be a fraud or an impostor if I didn’t tell you the truth. Guess what, that is not me to not be honest . I will be honest with you every step of the way and say just because I am a fitness professional doesn’t mean I don’t have bad days. We are all human and shit happens but…

NOW is the time. I am not going to wait until the New Year to make a commitment. I am committing NOW!

Are you in your low point? Are you stuck? Do you keep saying tomorrow but tomorrow passes? STOP! Commit with ME! Let’s do this YOU and ME!

Be YOU Do YOU For YOU

If you have taken any of my group fitness classes you know I am all about doing the workout the way YOU can accomplish it! Whether it’s modifying the move to keep going or progressing the move because you’ve built up to it. Whatever YOU have to do to get through and keep moving is my motto.

Today I decided to do the same with my lifestyle right now. I’m in a season of change and transition. I NEED to be kind to my body and give it the rest it needs to recover. I NEED to say no to things that don’t align with my schedule. I NEED to stop being the HUGE people pleaser I have always been. I mean I LOVE my peeps and will be here for YOU but I have to protect my energy too!

If you don’t understand why I may cancel plans, not do a workout move of the day, share my day on IG stories or always be energetic welp… #sorrynotsorry I am doing it for ME! I don’t expect you to understand what I am going through. We all have our own definition of what is a hard time. And this is mine.

If YOU are feeling the same it’s ok! Be YOU Do YOU For YOU! And I will support YOU!

You aren’t gonna win everyone’s hearts

As I lay here sick on the couch it is giving me time to reflect on what’s happened this past week.

I want to always stand true to my authentic self and show y’all that through my social media. I’m not fake. I’m not one comparing anymore. I’m not gonna let people dull my sparkle anymore. I’m not going to be the people pleaser I have always been to have someone like me. If you like me great, if not sorry it’s your loss not mine.

This has all been a very hard lesson for me to have learned over the years but it has made me a stronger person for it. I will continue to be myself. I will continue to show you my crazy dance moves, workouts, sweaty selfies, dog pics and more. Love it or leave but I am here to stay!

I will be the fruit loop in a bowl of Cheerios forever! If you dig it then you are my people and I want you in my tribe and I will love you hard! If not, #sorrynotsorry and thank you, next.

Thanks for the ride

Well, I did a thing! After a decade I got a new car!!!!! Can you believe it?! I never thought the day would come. My car “Dovey” and I have had SO many memories.

I am not going to lie to you, it was one of the harder things I have done in my life. 10 years on August 28th is when I purchased her. It was 6 days after Chris and I started dating. The same time that awful Station Fire happened and we packed up our valuables and were ready to evacuate from my childhood home.

Can you see why this was SO emotional for me?! Don’t get me wrong, I am beyond stoked for my new ride. It’s a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek! I’m pumped but sad at the same time.

Dovey and I had so many road trips, karaoke, dancing at red lights, naps on breaks, studying and more. Chris and my relationship is attached to that car. I will always remember those times.

But as time goes on and years pass things change. This chapter of my life closed and now it’s time to create a new one.

Thanks for the ride Dovey! ❤️

I am feeling myself today!

Do you ever have days where you look in the mirror where you are like, “damn girl, you looking good today!” OR are you a self sabotager?! Let’s be honest! We all have been in that headspace where we have not been kind to ourselves. And NOW is the time for me to tell YOU to knock that s**t off!

Yeah, you heard me. KNOCK THAT S**T OFF! Be nice to your mind, body and soul. Get good with you from the inside out. Life is so much better that way. How do you start?! Well, here are some of things that I did to start loving ME!

TIPS:

  1. Stop the comparison game! Don’t judge your day one journey with someone else’s day 365. Stay in your own lane and put your blinders on. So, if you follow people on social media that make you FEEL about yourself STOP FOLLOWING THEM!
  2. Which takes me here, get rid of the toxic people and negative energy out of your life. It does no good for your mindset. You need to fuel your mind with good and positive vibes on the daily. Trust me it is ok to have an eh day we all have them but don’t stay there. It is draining and don’t let someone drain you.
  3. Drink your water! I know you are like, “DUH, Kayleen!” But for reals, so many people are walking around dehydrated. So, as my man, Shaun T says, “Hydrate your life!” It has been a game changer for me in feeling more clear, less bloated, energy and so many other benefits.
  4. JOURNAL! Write out your thoughts. Get them on paper and out of your head so you can focus on what you need to get done for the day.
  5. Practice gratitude. I have been getting more in tune with the Lord and being grateful for all that has happened in my life. From the bad teaching me lessons and the good well because it has brought me joy.
  6. Get some fresh air. Jackson and I have been taking one to two daily walks. The vitamin D has been great for the soul. Hearing the wind and smell the star jasmine in the air has been delightful. Plus, it has been helping me clear my headspace.
  7. Be kind to others. In a world full of toxic negative BS it is so important to be kind. Even if you just give someone a smile or open a door. The more good karma you it will come back to you.
  8. Help others succeed! I have so many fellow entrepreneur friends out there and I want them all to succeed. So, even if I can’t use their services I share their stuff on social media. Be supportive of the people in your life. It means SO much more than YOU KNOW!
  9. Eat your veggies! Since I have been incorporating more greens in my diet I FEEL so much better because I am getting good nutrients in my system to fuel my body with the proper energy.
  10. LAUGH! Enjoy a good funny comedy show. Friends is a great go to!
  11. Music has always been a big influence in my life. But a good tune will put me in the best mood. So jam it out!
  12. HUGS! HUG your loved ones!

I hope these tips help you in your journey! Love y’all! youreamazing

Do you feel the weekend derails you from your goals?!

The weekend! WE all love the weekend right but then when Monday comes are you upset because you feel like you blew your goals? One cheeseburger is not going to kill your progress so chill friend. But if you continue to make that a habit it’s not the best choice. But here we are Monday and move past anything that happened over the weekend. It is going to you no good to dwell over it. It is over, move forward.

So, here are a couple of things I do to make sure I can create success ahead. Plan out your meals for the week. Make sure your grocery shopping is done and meal prep. Set your workout clothes the night before. Have your water bottle filled and pre-workout set out to push through the workout. Be sure if you are using weights have them ready to go where you will be exercising. Get your pumped up playlist ready to push play.

Make some of these small changes consistently on the daily and see BIG results! Here is an article below to help you get back on track 🙂
